Tony Mottola was an American jazz guitarist born in 1918 in Kearny, New Jersey. He began his career as a sideman for some of the biggest names in swing and big band music, including Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and Artie Shaw. Mottola became one of the most sought-after session musicians of the 1950s and 1960s. He was especially known for his work as a guitarist in Frank Sinatra’s touring and recording band. Despite his many contributions to the world of music, Mottola is perhaps best remembered for his collaborations with Frank Sinatra.
