Luiz Bonfá was a Brazilian guitarist and composer who was born on October 17, 1922 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was one of the most influential musicians of the Bossa Nova movement, and his unique style combined the traditional sounds of samba with elements of jazz and classical music. Bonfá’s composition “Manhã de Carnaval” became a staple of Bossa Nova. He continues to be widely recognized and celebrated today.
