John McLaughlin is an English jazz fusion guitarist, composer, and bandleader who is widely considered to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He first gained recognition in the late 1960s as a member of the influential jazz-rock group the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and has since gone on to establish a highly successful solo career. McLaughlin’s music is characterized by its virtuosic playing, complex composition, and integration of Indian classical music and jazz fusion.
