Howard Roberts was an American guitarist and educator who was active in the jazz and studio scenes. Born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1929, Roberts was a self-taught musician who became known for his virtuosic playing and distinctive tone. Throughout his career, he recorded with a wide variety of musicians and played on many soundtracks, including those for films and television shows. In addition to his musical work, Roberts was also an influential guitar teacher who wrote several instructional books and taught at several music schools.
