Grant Green

Grant Green was an American jazz guitarist from St. Louis, Missouri. He is considered one of the most influential jazz guitarists of the 20th century, known for his soulful, bluesy style. Green started his career in the 1950s, performing with musicians such as organist Jimmy Smith and saxophonist Sonny Stitt. He released his first album, “Grantstand,” in 1961, and went on to record over 30 albums in his career. Green’s discography features a mix of blues, hard bop, and soul jazz, showcasing his versatility and virtuosity as a guitarist. Despite his widespread influence, Green’s career was marked by inconsistency, as he struggled with personal and professional challenges.
